Carefully building a matching collection by getting one piece at a time doesn't work with IKEA either, because by the time you go back for the second piece, they've changed the colour and design (but not always the name, which means you might not realise it doesn't match until you get it home!). You pretty much have to buy it all at once, and if you can afford to do that, why in the world would you buy IKEA at all? It's a weird but effective marketing scheme. IKEA is just about the only place I enjoy shopping too, despite my cynicism about it.
